...Ms. Abriel packs a big punch into a small story. I found Cruel Memories compelling and moving. The story touched me on many emotional levels... If you want a short, steamy read with great depth and emotional chemistry, this book is for you... ----Teagan, Book WenchesCruel Memories Review
...The love between [Devon and Haley] is strong, and the love scenes are perfectly suited to the overall tone of the story. There's a darkness that permeates the book and it lends itself to the story very well. ... I'm becoming quite a fan of Darcy Abriel's and can't wait to read her next book... -- --Satyr Vael, Literary Nymphs Reviews Only

Gavin Killian was evil to the core. His half brother, Devon Masters, was the complete opposite. It was Gavin who practically destroyed Haley when she was seventeen. And Devon who healed her. but in saving Haley, he had sacrificed himself. Cruel memories keep them separated. A marriage-in-name-only binds them together.
Gavin is now gone--a violent life followed by a violent death. Haley returns to Falcon Hill one last time to put to rest the past that haunts her. And this time will it be Haley doing the saving? Because she's determined to make her marriage real.
But will the dark secrets of Falcon Hill keep Haley and Devon apart? What will Haley do when the truth is finally revealed?
"Can I trust you, Dev? Or maybe the question is, can you trust me? Have you ever let a woman tie you up before?"
The look in his eyes was one of desperation. The lines of his face carved deep, were tense and tight, his shadowed jaw locked. She couldn't help it; she reached up to stroke across the hard line of his pursed lips. She slipped the tip of her finger between his lips, forcing his mouth open. Unexpectedly, he sucked at her finger.
"Oh, Dev," she whispered. She pulled her finger free. "To answer your question," he said, his voice low and gruff, "no, I've never allowed anyone to tie me up."
"Do you trust me?"
He nodded. "Without a doubt."
She took his hand and led him into the bedroom. "Lie on the bed while I try to find something to use."
"My ties are hanging in the closet, if that's any help." She gave him a glimmer of a smile and then walked over to the closet just like she knew what she was doing. Everything was neat and orderly inside the walk-in closet. She stepped inside and went over to the rack near the back where an array of ties hung. She considered for a moment and pulled down a simple navy blue tie. Haley gasped when a pair of hard arms wrapped around her, dragging her back against a lean, tight body.
"Devon, what are you doing?"
One of his hands cupped her breast, his fingers kneaded a nipple. She arched back against him.
"You certain you want to tie me up? I can't use my hands if they're bound to the bed."
With his other hand he delved between her lips, stroking a finger between the soft tissue.
"You're wet, Haley. So wet. Do you want me to fuck you? Are you really sure you want to do this? Because there's no going back if we consummate this marriage."
